Random Observations.

Since this is supposed to be a blog, I suppose I should write something.  I always have a hard time picking a subject to write about and just sort of sit here and stare at this blank comment box for a while.  Lately I have been trying to get that image that will win a photo contest.  For a while, I thought that I needed a better camera, as most of the winning images were done with an expensive digital camera.  Last year's winner traversed a peak somewhere in the Himalayas, and got stuck on the mountain at 15,000 feet.  His Sherpa guide decided to move laterally around the peak to the other side where the weather wasn't so volatile.  "What did they find?" you ask...ah...they found, off in the distance, an active volcano, spewing molten lava down the peak and into the air with purple and pink cloud formations all being reflected in a calm glassy lake!  Geez...how does one compete with that?  Well, one of the other winners in the past was an image of a plastic clothespin clipped to a piece of barbed wire, with a nondescript background.  That one gives me hope.  I don't necessarily need a better camera...I just have to get experience and take better images.  So I figure that the way to win is to get out there and take pictures.  My last photographic venture yielded 151 images, 2, or maybe 3 of which I thought were contest material.  Perhaps I'm being too critical, but we're talking contest winners here!
